They're FINALLY here!!!

There are signs all over town announcing that semlor are FINALLY here! Phew, just when you thought you couldn't get through another day without a sweet puffy roll filled with whipped cream and marzipan blob, they arrive. I mean, just, thank heavens!

Apparently, the semla is traditionally eaten on Shrove Tuesday (February 24 this year), which I guess explains the ridiculous amount of cream. If you're going to fast for the next week, you might as well just fill that puppy up with as much life-sustaining butter cream as possible. I think I just understood why Shrove Tuesday is called Fat Tuesday in New Orleans. Aha! But I guess it's too hard to wait until February 24 because people are chowing down all over town.

OMG...whipped cream AND marzipan? in one bite? I could DIE. Why am I not in Sweden right now shoving these down my gullet?!? I am going to drive down to IKEA and scream at them until they stock these alongside those awesome cinnamon snails. Clearly I am thinking princess=pastry, however mistaken that line of reasoning may be.

I'm SO glad I'm not there.....we just recently got rid of all the Christmas treats. I would never get back on the wagon if those were around!
